The Argentine national player Alejandro Garnacho will not participate in the upcoming World Cup qualifying matches against Venezuela and Bolivia due to discomfort in his left knee. The 20-year-old winger from Manchester United was still ready to play last Sunday during the goalless draw against Aston Villa in the Premier League, but he is now unable to join the national team. With 18 points after eight games, Argentina currently leads the standings. On Thursday, they face an away game against Venezuela, which is currently in sixth place, followed by a home game against eighth-place Bolivia next Tuesday. Garnacho was originally nominated for both matches, but national coach Lionel Scaloni has now decided to call up Facundo Buonanotte from Leicester City instead. Garnacho has so far made seven international appearances and was part of the team that won Argentina's 16th title at the Copa America in the USA in July.
