RWE Supplies Green Power to Microsoft in the USA – Two New Wind Farms in Texas Provide Energy to Software Company.

The energy company RWE has announced that it will supply the software company Microsoft with green energy from two new wind farms in the state of Texas.

On Thursday in Essen, RWE announced that two 15-year electricity supply contracts had been signed with Microsoft Corporation. Construction has already begun for the onshore wind farm Peyton Creek II with a capacity of 243 megawatts. RWE has made the final investment decision for the Lane City wind farm with a capacity of 203 megawatts. It is planned to install wind turbines with a capacity of 4.5 megawatts each. No details were provided regarding the exact order volume and the agreed electricity quantities. For comparison: the Reußenköge citizen wind farm in Schleswig-Holstein, one of the largest wind farms in Germany, has an installed capacity of 293.4 megawatts.

"We are pleased to collaborate with Microsoft to supply the green electricity that the company needs to achieve its sustainability goals," declared the CEO of RWE Clean Energy's North American subsidiary, Andrew Flanagan, according to the announcement.

Microsoft shares traded 0.20 percent higher at $427.87 on NASDAQ in pre-market trading on Friday.
