Glencore, the leading British-Swiss mining and trading company, announced in its latest report that it maintained its production targets for copper, zinc and coal despite declining production figures in the first nine months of the year. However, it had to revise these targets downwards due to production declines in nickel and ferrochrome.

The company, listed in the FTSE 100, now expects a total yearly nickel production of 102,000 tonnes, instead of the previously forecasted 112,000 tonnes. Ferrochrome production also decreases from 1,310 tonnes to now 1,200 tonnes.

In the first nine months of the year, Glencore produced a total of 735,800 tons of copper, representing a decline of 5 percent compared to the previous year. This is partly due to the sale of the Cobar Mine in Australia in June and also the lower production of copper by-products. The company's zinc production fell by 4 percent to 672,100 tons.

Even more significant declines were recorded in the production of nickel and ferrochrome, here the figures dropped by 16 percent to 68,400 tons and by 21 percent to 873,000 tons respectively. In contrast, Glencore was able to increase its coal production by 2 percent to 83.9 million tons.

At the London Stock Exchange, Glencore's share price pleasingly rose by 1.45 percent to 4.52 pounds on Monday, indicating investors' confidence in the long-term stability of the company. Glencore has proven itself in the past as a reliable and profitable player in the market and is also a promising success candidate in the future.
