Amazon Launches a New Credit Card in Collaboration with Santander Bank, Offering Customers Attractive Benefits and Cashback Options. The Comeback of the Amazon Visa Credit Card Follows the Discontinuation of the Previous Card in Partnership with Landesbank Berlin (LBB) in March 2024. The New Card was Introduced on August 12, 2024, and Aims to Provide Additional Value Especially to Prime Members.
The new Amazon Visa credit card is free of charge and does not require a new bank account. The credit limit initially amounts to 2,000 euros but can be increased depending on the cardholder's creditworthiness. Customers earn points with every purchase, which they can redeem for future purchases on Amazon. Purchases on Amazon.de earn 1 percent cashback, while purchases outside the platform are rewarded with 0.5 percent. Prime members benefit from 2 percent cashback on special offer days like Prime Day.
Particularly interesting is the starting credit, which ranges between 10 and 25 euros depending on the customer status. Former holders of the Amazon credit card receive a higher bonus.
The monthly statements are processed through Zinia's online banking, a consumer financing platform by Santander. Here, customers can choose between full and partial payment, with partial payments incurring high interest rates of over 20 percent, which can diminish the benefits of the card. Cash withdrawals are also subject to fees, especially abroad.
