Stellantis has taken a decisive step towards flexibility and sustainability with the announcement of its STLA frame platform. The new platform is designed for SUVs and pickup trucks with frame construction and supports a wide range of powertrains, including internal combustion engines, hybrids, hydrogen systems, and various electric drives.
The platform is designed for electric ranges of up to 1,100 kilometers, with a battery range of about 800 kilometers. In an initial phase, it will include battery-powered electric vehicles and extended-range variants. Later, other drive systems such as hydrogen and internal combustion engines will also be integrated.
The automotive group, which includes brands like Opel, Peugeot, and Fiat, has committed to investing more than 50 billion euros in electrification by 2030. The goal is to offer all passenger cars in Europe as well as half of the passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in the USA fully electric by the end of the decade.
The introduction of the STLA framework platform marks an important milestone in Stellantis' strategy to strengthen its position in sustainable mobility while meeting the demands of a diversified global market.
