Allianz surprises with profit surge

Allianz starts the year strongly – Surprisingly good results in the property and casualty segment.

Allianz SE, a Leading Insurance Group in the DAX Index, Reports a Strong Start to the Fiscal Year with an Operating Profit of Nearly Four Billion Euros in the First Quarter, Which Represents a Seven Percent Increase Compared to the Previous Year. The Group Was Able to Achieve a Net Profit of About 2.5 Billion Euros, Signifying a 22 Percent Rise Over the Previous Year After the Prior Year Was Marked by Special Charges. These Results Significantly Exceeded Analysts' Expectations.

The Property and Casualty Insurance segment was particularly successful, managing to increase its operating profit by more than ten percent to around 2.1 billion Euros. While the life and health insurance business showed stable results, the fund subsidiaries Pimco and Allianz Global Investors saw a significant improvement in results with more than 34 billion Euros in newly collected capital.

Chairman Oliver Bäte confident that Allianz will achieve the target of an operating annual profit of between 13.8 and 15.8 billion euros. Despite the positive results, the Allianz stock dropped by 0.49 percent in pre-market trading on Tradegate and was listed at 264.30 euros.
