RWE has made the investment decision for two additional wind farms in the North Sea. The so-called "North Sea cluster" with a total capacity of 1.6 gigawatts (GW) is to be realized in two phases off the coast of Juist, as announced by the energy supplier on Friday.

"Already today, six offshore wind farms off the German coasts are part of our portfolio," said CEO Sven Utermöhlen. "Two more will be added with the North Sea cluster."

For the "North Sea Cluster A" with a total capacity of 660 megawatts (MW), the production of some components has already started. The 44 wind turbines are expected to be fully connected to the grid by early 2027. The 60 turbines of the "North Sea Cluster B" with a total capacity of 900 megawatts are scheduled to commence commercial operation by early 2029.

In XETRA trading, the RWE stock rose by 2.55 percent to 35.02 euros.
