The British defense and aerospace company BAE Systems has received a contract worth 285 million pounds (approximately 355.8 million dollars) to modernize the threat detection systems on Royal Navy ships. This was announced by the British Ministry of Defense on Tuesday, just days after the British navy tracked a Russian ship in home waters.

The contract includes the modernization of combat management systems on 20 ships, including Type 23 and 26 frigates, Type 45 destroyers, and Queen Elizabeth-class aircraft carriers. The aim of the measure, according to the Ministry of Defense, is to improve Britain's ability to detect and counter threats.

The announcement follows the recent statement by Defense Minister John Healey, according to which the Royal Navy monitored a Russian reconnaissance ship in British waters in November and last week. According to Healey, the ship collected information and mapped the UK's critical underwater infrastructure. The Russian embassy in London denied the allegations.

Maria Eagle, British Minister of State for Defence Procurement, stated: "By collaborating with British industry, we ensure that our Royal Navy has the advanced technology it needs, while also strengthening our domestic defence industry.
