A cold front is rapidly approaching New York City, bringing strong winds and snow showers on late Wednesday evening. While significant snow accumulation is unlikely, the snowflakes combined with gusts could still cause intense snow drifts that might significantly reduce visibility for travelers in the region, warned David Roth, senior meteorologist at the U.S. Weather Prediction Center.
Weather experts from the National Weather Service are forecasting a wintry mix of precipitation beginning early Wednesday evening and turning into rain by Thursday morning. Despite the assessment that no significant accumulation is expected, Roth emphasized that this does not mean that effects would not be felt.
The storm, known as a "Clipper," will leave its most intense snowfalls in the Great Lakes region. In some parts of northern Maine, up to 30 centimeters of snow could fall, while regions recently hard hit in the northern part of New York State, which were recently affected by a lake-effect storm with over 165 centimeters of snow, could receive a few more centimeters. Fortunately, due to its rapid movement and the slightly cooled Great Lakes, the Clipper will not reach the intensity of last weekend's storm. By next week, the below-average temperatures should return to more normal seasonal values. Modern Financial Markets Data
