The Vietnamese authorities have targeted another group of suspects in a corruption scandal revolving around bribery related to repatriation flights during the pandemic. This chapter is part of a series of events that already put more than 40 people behind bars last year and significantly contributed to the ousting of a president.
According to a report by the newspaper Tien Phong, seventeen defendants are currently on trial in Hanoi. The accused are charged with accepting bribes, failing to report crimes, and abusing their positions and power.
