Vantage Towers, a Düsseldorf-based telecommunications tower operator, is considering selling its assets in Spain, according to informed sources. The company, backed by KKR, has engaged Morgan Stanley to gauge interest from potential buyers. Estimates suggest that the sale of the Spanish towers could bring in around one billion euros. However, the considerations are still in early stages, and it is possible that Vantage Towers might ultimately decide against a sale. Representatives from both Vantage Towers and Morgan Stanley have so far declined requests for comment. Vantage Towers, which is also jointly owned by Global Infrastructure Partners and Vodafone Group, has over 8,000 towers in Spain. This represents the second-largest number of sites in the country, according to the company's website. In 2022, Vodafone established a joint venture with KKR and GIP to co-manage Vantage Towers through Oak Holdings. In July, Vodafone sold a 10% stake in Oak Holdings for 1.3 billion euros, reducing Vodafone's effective share to 44.7%. Meanwhile, Vantage Towers Spain is under pressure from its main customer, Vodafone Spain, now majority-owned by Zegona Communications, to review the contract and lower annual fees.
