The British government has decided to increase compensation payments for consumers whose water supply is temporarily interrupted. This move is part of a broader reform of the water sector aimed at improving service quality and reducing environmental impact. In the past, poor performance and environmental transgressions have led to growing discontent among the public. In October, a review of the sector was already initiated to strengthen regulation and address existing issues. Now, the Environment Ministry announced that automatic payments of up to £2,000 will be possible for water supply failures, sewage flooding, low water pressure, and advisories to boil tap water before drinking. Some of these compensations will be made mandatory. Environment Minister Steve Reed emphasized that this is another step in the reform plans to make the sector more customer and environmentally friendly. He stressed the importance of fair compensation for the public when failures occur. Particularly noteworthy is the increase in compensation for low water pressure, which now stands at up to £250, compared to the previous £25. Similarly, payments for "Do not drink" advisories rise to £220, up from around £30. Modern Financial Markets Data
