In the dynamic world of stock markets, Tesla, listed on NASDAQ under the ticker TSLA, has secured the fifth position on a recently published list of the top 10 AI stocks. This position calls for a closer analysis, especially as Wall Street is currently experiencing an upswing during the earnings season, and analysts are discussing scenarios such as a "soft landing" or even no landing. Mohamed El-Erian, Chief Economic Advisor of Allianz, does not rule out a recession but also sees other developments as possible. In the general discussion about stock performance, the interest in those preferred by hedge funds is significant. Research has shown that by mimicking the top selections of hedge funds, stock portfolios can perform exceptionally well. For example, the quarterly strategy of a specific newsletter has achieved an impressive return of 275% since May 2014, far better than its benchmark index. Tim Higgins, a columnist for the Wall Street Journal, recently commented on Tesla's new Robotaxi event. In his opinion, the promises made by Elon Musk often do not adhere to the announced timelines. The debate about the pricing of the so-called Cybercab, whose production costs are supposed to be around $30,000, is interesting. The pricing and the operating costs of about $0.20 per mile raise questions about the longevity of Musk's strategy. At the center of criticism is Tesla's product range, which mainly consists of the Model 3 and Y – even though competing companies are constantly presenting more innovative models. Particular attention is on the European market, where Tesla is losing ground to traditional automakers and emerging Chinese brands like BYD. Adding to all this is Tesla's valuation. The projected P/E ratio of 60.2 for 2026 suggests a possible overvaluation of the company. This could lead investors to reconsider their positions, to wait for potentially better entry points, or to explore other EV options that may display more potential.
