The Taiwanese authorities have halted Uber Technologies' planned $950 million purchase of Delivery Hero's Foodpanda division due to concerns about unfair competition. This decision was announced by Bloomberg News, citing the Central News Agency (CNA) of Taiwan.
Uber and Delivery Hero had announced the agreement to purchase in May. In addition to buying Foodpanda, another deal was planned, in which Uber was to acquire newly issued shares of the German food delivery company for $300 million.
None of the companies involved—Uber, Delivery Hero, and Foodpanda—have commented on the matter so far. The Taiwanese competition authority was also initially unreachable. According to Bloomberg News, it remains unclear what sources CNA based this information on. Modern Financial Markets Data
