The Swiss National Bank (SNB) reports an impressive profit of 5.67 billion Swiss francs (approximately 6.55 billion US dollars) for the third quarter. This pleasing increase is largely due to valuation gains on gold, bond, and equity holdings.
In particular, the SNB's foreign operations proved profitable: a profit of 3.08 billion francs was achieved through the increase in stock values in the portfolio. Companies such as Apple and the AI-chip manufacturer Nvidia contributed significantly to this success, aided by buoyant stock markets.
Additionally, the SNB recorded remarkable profits from its gold holdings. With an increase of 4.41 billion francs, the bank benefited from the rising prices that boosted the value of the 1,040 tons of the precious metal it held. A strong indication of the SNB’s stability and strategic foresight.
