The Green Bay Packers, after releasing their draft pick Anders Carlson due to inconsistent performance, have signed undrafted rookie Brayden Narveson from the Tennessee Titans. However, this new addition is currently not providing the desired stability for the team. Although Narveson has successfully converted all his extra points, his performance on field goals is less impressive. Four missed attempts in four games, and another nullified by a Titans penalty, paint a mixed picture. After two crucial misses in the game against the Vikings, which they lost 31-29, Narveson was self-critical and determined to improve: "I need to look myself in the mirror and go back to the drawing board to get better. That's all I can say about that." The rookie kicker leads with 13 attempts in the NFL, but his success rate of 69.2 percent needs improvement. In comparison, Matt Gay of the Colts has a rate of 60 percent and Justin Tucker of the Ravens has 62.5 percent, with all of Narveson's misses coming from under 50 yards – a range where experts expect high accuracy. Special Teams Coordinator Rich Bisaccia remains supportive of Narveson despite the misses: "We are pleased with his development and how he responds to negative moments. He has kicked well, and that is what we expect from him," Bisaccia said last week, before Narveson registered two more misses. General Manager Brian Gutekunst also emphasized his patience with young talents, drawing parallels with the team's previous decisions. Head Coach Matt LaFleur remains positive: "I have a great deal of confidence in Brayden. Of course, we expect results, but young kickers often go through such phases. I have great confidence in his abilities and will not hesitate to put him in similar situations again." Nevertheless, the question remains whether the Packers are willing to allow another inexperienced kicker to cost them crucial game situations during the regular season. The market for talented kickers currently looks bleak. With Alex Hale as an international player on the practice squad, another option is available, while experienced kickers like Brandon McManus, Randy Bullock, and Riley Patterson could be considered. Reportedly, the Packers have already tested Chad Ryland and Lucas Havrisik. Ryland achieved a success rate of 64 percent for field goals last season as a rookie, while Havrisik successfully converted 75 percent of his attempts. For now, the Packers continue to rely on Narveson, but his time could be running out if more misses follow. The young kicker remains determined: "I need to get back to work and get better.
