Oracle Health once again demonstrates its innovation in the field of electronic health records (EHR) by introducing new features aimed at significantly enhancing efficiency in daily clinical operations. The goal is to simplify routine tasks and enable informed patient care—a significant step towards alleviating the burden on doctors and nursing staff. Since acquiring Cerner, Oracle has intensively invested in the development of their clinical applications. Seema Verma, the Executive Vice President and General Manager of Oracle Health and Life Sciences, emphasizes this: “We are building for the future and offering our customers easily adaptable solutions today. We leverage the performance, security, and embedded AI capabilities of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.” These innovations are introduced quarterly, allowing for continuous improvement of processes within healthcare organizations. A particular focus is on interoperability. With Oracle Health Seamless Exchange, data can be securely and efficiently integrated into existing patient records. This provides doctors with a more comprehensive view of their patients, leading to better clinical decisions. The transition to modern standards like the Trusted Exchange Framework and Common Agreement (TEFCA) is also being advanced to ensure the use and security of patient data. Another groundbreaking innovation is the Oracle Clinical Digital Assistant, which uses generative AI and a multimodal interface to help doctors reduce documentation workload. Early adopters report an average time saving of over four minutes per patient and a reduction in documentation time by 20-40% daily. In terms of security, Oracle relies on the Autonomous Shield Initiative. This initiative protects healthcare organizations from increasing cyber threats while simultaneously improving performance through the use of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. For instance, King’s College in Dubai was able to reduce access times to patient information by 50% and achieve a 25% reduction in overall EHR time. Further details on these groundbreaking developments will be presented at the Oracle Health Summit in Nashville on October 29 and 30, 2024. Here, global leaders in healthcare will gather to discuss current challenges and exchange information on new innovations.
