The Australian battery manufacturer Novonix has signed a significant supply agreement with the automobile manufacturer Stellantis. Under this agreement, Novonix will supply high-performance synthetic graphite to Stellantis' cell manufacturing partners in North America starting in 2026. The agreement stipulates that Novonix will provide between 86,250 and 115,000 metric tons of graphite from its facility in Chattanooga, Tennessee. This contract is a significant step for Novonix, as it ensures reaching the maximum possible production capacity at the Riverside location. Additionally, a portion of future production from a new plant currently being planned in the southeastern United States will be taken into account. CEO Chris Burns explained that the contract involves the remaining available volume at the Riverside facility as well as a portion of the planned capacity of the new production site. The new plant is initially expected to have a capacity of 30,000 metric tons per year, which will later be expanded to 75,000 metric tons per year.
