The financial world has lost one of its most influential figures of the past decades: Frank Strauss, former CEO of Postbank and later responsible for retail banking at Deutsche Bank, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 54. Deutsche Bank, where Strauss had worked for nearly three decades, confirmed the sad news over the weekend.
The news of the sudden passing of the highly esteemed manager evoked profound shock and sorrow within the company, as indicated in a statement. Christian Sewing, CEO of Deutsche Bank, expressed both his and his colleagues' dismay and offered his condolences to the family. Strauss's contributions to both Deutsche Bank and Postbank were substantial, especially in the area of retail banking services.
Frank Strauss's career began after his vocational training as a bank clerk when he joined Deutsche Bank in Frankfurt in various senior positions in 1995. He took the helm of the private and commercial banking division in the German market in 2006. After moving to Postbank in 2011 and taking over its CEO position the following year, he joined the Executive Board of Deutsche Bank in 2017. In this role, he was in charge of the private and commercial banking business, and in 2018 he succeeded Christian Sewing in this capacity.
His passing leaves a void not only in the professional context; his commitment as an advocate for traditional banking services remains a lasting legacy. Family, friends, and colleagues mourn a man who was passionately dedicated not only in his profession but also as a husband and father of two children. Modern Financial Markets Data
