Lotus and AWS: A Smart Partnership for the Luxury Mobility of Tomorrow

Lotus Technology, a subsidiary of Geely, will rely on Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud expertise to accelerate the development of their next-generation intelligent luxury electric vehicles. This collaboration forms a pillar of the Vision80 strategy of the Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer, aiming to transform Lotus into a global luxury technology brand by 2028. Thanks to AWS, Lotus can leverage advanced technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), analytics, machine learning, and generative artificial intelligence to enhance connected features, autonomous driving, and vehicle performance. Bo Li, Vice President of Lotus Technology, expressed enthusiasm about collaborating with AWS, which is expected to significantly advance automated driving, customer service, and driver satisfaction at Lotus. Lotus will run its self-developed 'ROBO Soul' software for autonomous driving on the AWS platform, enabling features like parking and highway autonomy for the new electric vehicles. Additionally, AWS infrastructure with services such as Amazon Redshift and Amazon Managed Streaming for Apache Kafka (Amazon MSK) ensures intelligent data processing at Lotus. This allows for rapid analysis of large data volumes to enhance system safety and functionality. Another milestone is the development of the 'ROBO Galaxy' on AWS, optimizing the efficiency of autonomous vehicles worldwide. The 'Lotus Connect' platform, which offers real-time monitoring, geofencing, and theft protection, is also based on AWS. With the help of Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS), Lotus drastically reduced deployment time, while Amazon Aurora provides lightning-fast access to digital vehicle keys. AWS not only supports Lotus in technical advancement but also provides real-time 3D visualizations through Amazon CloudFront. These enable customers to customize their vehicles individually.
