Liverpool plans transfer of Federico Chiesa before the transfer market closes

Liverpool FC is on the verge of signing Federico Chiesa before the transfer window closes. Reports published on Monday indicated that the club from Anfield Road is considering an offer for the 26-year-old striker from Juventus. They are now ready to enter negotiations based on the assessed costs to secure his services. The Italian international is available for around 15 million euros, as his contract expires in 2025. Liverpool, who have admired Chiesa for several years, have decided to take this opportunity and are in talks over a potential four-year deal. Chiesa and other former first-team players have been excluded from Thiago Motta's squad. Chiesa originally joined Juventus on loan from Fiorentina in 2020, a deal that was made permanent for 50 million euros (approximately 42.3 million pounds; 55.8 million dollars). Under former head coach Massimiliano Allegri, Chiesa was a regular starter for Juventus last season, scoring 10 goals and providing three assists in 37 appearances across all competitions. The 2023-24 season was Chiesa's first full season since his cruciate ligament injury in January 2022, which sidelined him for about nine months. Chiesa previously starred for Italy during their title-winning campaign in the 2021 European Championship and also represented his country in this year's edition, where they exited in the round of 16. Since moving to Turin, Chiesa has scored 32 goals in 131 games for Juventus. Prior to that, he scored 34 goals in 154 games for Fiorentina.
