The dispute over the future of TikTok in the USA is intensifying. The Department of Justice recently requested a court of appeals to reject an emergency petition from TikTok. TikTok aims to block new legislation that would force the company to sever its connection to its Chinese parent company ByteDance by January 19th or risk ceasing operations in the USA.
TikTok and ByteDance warned in an emergency petition to the court of appeals on Monday that the implementation of the law could bring the app, which is considered one of the most popular speech platforms in the country with over 170 million monthly users, to a standstill.
The Department of Justice, on the other hand, argues that the unabated control of China over TikTok poses an ongoing threat to national security and advocates for the implementation of the law by the designated date. Modern Financial Markets Data
