The technology giants IBM and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) have expanded their collaboration to integrate the Instinct MI300X accelerators into IBM Cloud services. This partnership aims to enhance the performance and energy efficiency of high-performance computing and generative AI models.
Scheduled for the first half of 2025, the new service primarily targets business customers who require advanced AI capabilities. The integration of AMD accelerators into IBM's WatsonXAI and data platform promises an expanded infrastructure for the needs of AI inference.
"Given the increasing adoption of larger AI models and datasets by enterprises, it is crucial that the accelerators within the system can handle compute-intensive workloads with high performance and scalability," stated Philip Guido, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer at AMD.
This cooperation underscores the growing demand for robust AI infrastructure as enterprises increasingly rely on scalable solutions for data-intensive tasks. Following the announcement, IBM and AMD shares experienced slight increases in early trading. Modern Financial Markets Data
