The Greek banks could face a financial burden of around 100 million euros as various payment fees, previously charged by the institutions, are reduced or even eliminated. This is predicted by Eurobank Equities Investment Firm. Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced on Sunday evening that the Greek government will introduce a cap on fees for money transfers up to 5,000 euros. Additionally, the costs for settling bills—whether for utilities or state payments—should also be severely limited or completely abolished. These measures could increase the pressure on banks to generate revenue from other sources but at the same time represent a significant step towards easing the financial everyday life of Greek citizens. The planned restriction of bank fees is part of broader efforts by the government to alleviate the financial burden on the population while simultaneously boosting the economy.
