An unexpected driver change in the Formula 1 circus is causing a stir: Oliver Bearman, the British junior driver and current reserve driver for the Haas team, will replace Kevin Magnussen at the São Paulo Grand Prix on Friday. The Danish racer is sidelined due to illness, giving the Ferrari-powered team the opportunity to put Bearman in the cockpit. Bearman, who has already started for Ferrari and Haas this season, will drive for the team permanently next year. Today promises exciting racing hours with a one-hour practice session followed by qualifying for tomorrow’s sprint race. So far, Haas has not indicated whether Magnussen will be able to return for the 100 km sprint race on Saturday. Although this race will not determine the final starting grid for the Grand Prix on Sunday, it is a crucial point in the Formula 1 racing calendar. Regardless, Formula 1 stewards have officially granted Bearman permission to participate in the Grand Prix in Interlagos and to replace Magnussen until further notice.
