ExxonMobil's Fuel: Australian Competition Authority Raises Allegations
- Mobil Synergy's additives are said to have been falsely advertised as beneficial.
- The ACCC sues ExxonMobil over misleading fuel advertising.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has initiated legal proceedings against the local subsidiary of ExxonMobil. The lawsuit stems from misleading statements about the fuel offered at six gas stations in Queensland. ExxonMobil, a US-based oil and gas corporation, markets the Mobil brand, which, according to the authority's allegations, was falsely advertised with special additives as 'Mobil Synergy.' Consumers cannot verify such claims. Therefore, they rely on the information provided by the fuel supplier, explained Liza Carver, ACCC Commissioner. Additionally, Mobil allegedly created the impression that the fuel sold at these stations differed in terms of quality or composition from that at other locations and offered additional benefits. A statement from Mobil Australia was initially unavailable. Modern Financial Markets Data
