Euro Appears Stable at the Start of the Week

Eulerpool Research Systems Mar 11, 2024
At the start of the week, the euro has stabilized on the foreign exchange market and shows little movement against the US dollar. On Monday morning, the European single currency was quoted at a rate of 1.0937 US dollars, which is nearly identical to the level of the previous Friday evening. The European Central Bank (ECB) last set the reference rate at 1.0932 US dollars, representing a slight increase compared to Thursday's 1.0895 US dollars. Analysts at Landesbank Hessen-Thüringen (Helaba) refer to a subdued data-driven start to the week. Nevertheless, attention will increasingly turn to significant data releases from the United States in the coming days. Particularly before the Federal Reserve's meeting next week, consumer price figures due on Tuesday are coming into focus. The assessments of the Helaba experts are mixed in light of the current guidelines. On the one hand, producer price developments in certain areas of the price statistics indicate a weakening of price pressure. On the other hand, other indicators, such as the pricing intentions of firms, show a continuing trend toward rising prices in recent months.
