Egypt is on the verge of reevaluating its program for participation in state-owned enterprises. Due to the current "exceptional" circumstances, the planning of stake sales is being revised, as announced by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly. The aim of the program, which includes options to sell shares on the stock market or to strategic investors, remains unaffected. The focus is still on providing more opportunities for the private sector in the Egyptian economy, Madbouly explained. However, what is up for discussion are both the industries and the scale of the offerings. Originally, the government had planned more than 30 companies for partial privatization.
