Donald Trump makes headlines with baseless accusations and insults

Donald J. Trump, the former President of the United States, concluded the week following his first and potentially only presidential debate with Vice President Kamala Harris with an unscripted speech at a rally in Las Vegas. During this speech, he made baseless accusations against Harris and reiterated various falsehoods on numerous topics. Additionally, he attempted to incite fears regarding immigration. During his 80-minute speech, Trump railed against the moderators of Tuesday's debate and baselessly accused the Democrats of "cheating like hell" in elections. He further claimed that President Biden, whom he had labeled as a weak president for years, "would have been better" than Harris. Despite claiming he had triumphed in the debate — while some of his allies viewed his performance as mixed — Trump accused Harris of wearing an earpiece. This unfounded claim circulates in right-wing social media. He also claimed without evidence that Harris had received the debate questions in advance. Trump also breached decorum with derogatory remarks directed at his Democratic opponents. He disparagingly referred to Kamala Harris as "Kambabla" and incorrectly called her competitor, Governor Tim Walz of Minnesota, "the vice president." To portray Harris and Walz as ultraliberal candidates, Trump repeated false claims he has frequently made since Harris' nomination. He alleged that Harris supported states in removing minors from their families to perform gender reassignment surgeries. In reality, any such surgery requires parental consent. Furthermore, Trump reiterated the claim that in states led by Democrats, the killing of newborns post-birth is permitted. However, infanticide is illegal in all states.
