The renowned German engine manufacturer MTU Aero Engines has decided to appoint Johannes Bussmann as the successor to CEO Lars Wagner starting in January 2026. Wagner, who announced his withdrawal from the position in October, will take over the leadership of aircraft production at Airbus in 2026, the world's largest aircraft manufacturer. Lars Wagner, who previously served as an industrial manager at Airbus, has worked in various positions at MTU Aero Engines, mastering a challenging period characterized by production challenges and availability bottlenecks of the new geared turbofan engines for Airbus. MTU Aero Engines presented optimistic financial forecasts for the year 2025 last month: the company expects revenue between 8.3 and 8.5 billion euros and an increase in adjusted pre-tax profit in the low to mid-double-digit percentage range.
