In the latest chapter of a family and friendship drama that began in the glamorous world of football, six men, including Mathias Pogba, the brother of French national player Paul Pogba, were sentenced to prison terms ranging from three to eight years. According to French media, the convicted individuals were significantly involved in blackmail attempts against the prominent footballer. In 2022, Paul Pogba became the target of extortion and threats by an alleged organized gang, which included people from his close circle. Mathias Pogba was formally investigated as part of this affair. The world-class midfielder informed the Paris prosecutor's office in March 2022 that he had been blackmailed by old childhood friends, after which he paid the group 100,000 euros as protection money. Mathias Pogba was sentenced to three years in prison, two of which are suspended. He was also fined 20,000 euros. Other co-defendants received varying prison sentences: Roushdane K was sentenced to eight years, while Boubacar C and Machikour K were each given four years, with partially suspended sentences. Mamadou M and Adama C must serve five years behind bars, with twelve months suspended for Mamadou M. Paul Pogba's representatives were asked for a statement, but no response is currently available.
