In a dramatic turn of events in Moscow, a high-ranking Russian general was killed by a bomb explosion as he entered his house on Tuesday. The explosion, which also claimed the life of his aide, occurred when an explosive device attached to a scooter detonated, according to investigators. The incident involves none other than Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, the head of the Russian military's nuclear, chemical, and biological defense forces. Kirillov, who has been considered one of the most prominent officers since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, had regularly accused Kyiv of planning to use chemical weapons and developing a so-called "dirty bomb." Interestingly, the Ukrainian Security Service SBU had issued a notice just a day earlier regarding the suspicion of war crimes against Kirillov. This notice is comparable to a warrant and accuses Kirillov of being responsible for the mass use of prohibited chemical weapons by Russian forces on the fronts in eastern and southern Ukraine. According to the SBU, over 4,800 cases of chemical ammunition use by enemy forces have been documented since the outbreak of the full-scale war. However, a spokesman for the SBU declined to comment on the incident. Modern Financial Markets Data
