Amazon expands its offerings for sellers with a new AI assistant specifically designed to support their business. Codenamed 'Project Amelia,' the assistant was developed on Amazon Bedrock by AWS and is now available in beta for select US sellers. The aim of Project Amelia is to provide sellers with tools to manage and grow their business more efficiently. The assistant can supply sellers with information such as sales data and customer traffic and answer questions about business metrics. For example, questions like 'How is my business doing?' can be answered with a summary of metrics that include not only current sales figures and sold units but also website traffic data compared to the previous year. In addition to data collection, Project Amelia also offers the ability to ask further questions focused on individual products. The assistant can help with more detailed topics such as sales trends and growth of a specific product. In the future, the AI assistant is expected to be further enhanced to assist with problem-solving and other tasks. For instance, sellers can ask questions like 'I have 300 units on the way and don't see it in the report, can someone clarify?' and receive tailored support. If necessary, contact with Amazon's support team can also be facilitated, making the assistant a blend of a traditional chatbot and a personal assistant. In addition to Project Amelia, Amazon has been offering another AI chatbot named Rufus in the USA since this summer, which is aimed at consumers. Rufus helps with selecting appropriate clothing and refining product reviews. For sellers, generative AI tools were also introduced to assist with creating product listings and offering AI-generated backgrounds for advertising. Amazon has further announced that generative AI will be increasingly used to improve product descriptions and recommendations for customers. A company blog post from Mary Beth Westmoreland, Vice President of Amazon's Worldwide Selling Partner Experience, emphasizes the importance of Project Amelia: 'By leveraging generative AI, we are creating and implementing technologies that make it easier for sellers to manage and grow their business. Innovative solutions like Project Amelia reduce the time, effort, and resources required from sellers, allowing them more time to develop great products and delight their customers.'
