AC Milan had to settle for a goalless draw against CFC Genoa in Serie A during their 125th anniversary celebration. In the venerable atmosphere of the San Siro, the Rossoneri had the upper hand from the start but were only able to create a few half-chances. Fortunately, they were spared a penalty when the young striker Mattia Liberali was not sanctioned by the referee for his zealous intervention against Genoa's midfielder Fabio Miretti. The halftime substitution of Alvaro Morata brought fresh energy to the attack and put the visitors' defense under pressure. However, in the 76th minute, he missed with a shot that flew over the goal, and just three minutes later, he only hit the crossbar. Despite the festive occasion of the founding date on December 16, 1899, Milan could not climb higher than eighth place and remains in eighth position with 23 points, only eight points behind the Champions League spots. Genoa, on the other hand, is ranked 13th with 16 points.
