The logistics specialist KION will cooperate with the chip manufacturer NVIDIA and the IT consulting firm Accenture in the future to increase the efficiency of global supply chains. The aim of the collaboration is to develop new warehouses and improve existing ones using artificial intelligence (AI) and simulation technologies, KION announced on Tuesday in Frankfurt.
The partnership receives positive resonance from investors: The KION share rose by 10.5 percent during the day, reaching its highest level in weeks at 35.35 euros. "The connection with the name NVIDIA creates considerable imagination among investors," commented a stock trader.
NVIDIA CEO Jen-Hsun Huang emphasized the strategic significance of AI in the field of robotics at CES 2025 in Las Vegas. In his keynote, he spoke about new software technologies designed to train robots and promote a broader use of AI applications.
Market expert Andreas Lipkow also sees the news as a driver for the price increase. "The efficiency improvements through AI and the far-reaching advantages for various industries are obvious," said Lipkow. However, he warned that it would take time for these new technologies to translate into sustainable revenues.
Despite the AI hype, KION will continue to remain heavily dependent on economic fluctuations, according to Lipkow. In the long term, however, the integration of AI could bring decisive competitive advantages.
