BASF appoints Asia Chief Kamieth as new CEO
Markus Kamieth, previously responsible for the Asian business, takes over the leadership of the world's largest chemical company BASF.
BASF, the world's largest chemical company, has appointed a new CEO. Markus Kamieth, responsible for the Asian business, will take over as the head of the company from April onwards. Kamieth will assume the position from Martin Brudermüller, who is retiring after 13 years at the helm of BASF.
The 53-year-old Kamieth is considered the perfect choice for the CEO. Not only has he been with BASF since 1999, but as an experienced chemist and part of the board, he has significantly shaped the company. His outstanding performance as Chief Technology Officer Melanie Maas-Brunner makes him the ideal successor for Brudermüller.
The farewell of Martin Brudermüller, who has been serving as CEO at BASF since 2007, is difficult for the company. His resignation came as a surprise to some, but continuity is the focus for his successor Kamieth. After all, both have been working closely together for several years, and Kamieth can build on Brudermüller's successes.
BASF has always been a pioneer in the chemical industry and is considered one of the leading companies worldwide. The appointment of Kamieth as CEO will further strengthen the company's role as an innovation leader. His extensive experience in the industry and his strategic mindset promise a promising future for BASF.
The announcement of the new leadership team has also affected the stock market. The BASF stock recorded a slight increase of 0.09 percent to 48.61 euros in XETRA trading. Investors see the change at the top of the company as a positive development and are responding with a buying behavior.
For BASF, the appointment of Markus Kamieth as CEO marks an important milestone in the company's history. With a competent and experienced leadership team at the helm, the company will undoubtedly continue to stay at the forefront of the chemical industry. A promising future awaits BASF and its shareholders.
