Following a widespread software error that led to numerous computer failures worldwide, the IT security firm CrowdStrike thanked its revised IT experts with a ten-dollar voucher. An email sent by a senior manager of the company noted that the PC crashes last Friday had caused additional work for the employees.

To express our gratitude, the next coffee or late-night snack is on us," read the message, which was accompanied by a voucher for the delivery service Uber Eats, as reported by the news agency Bloomberg on Wednesday (local time). A spokesperson for CrowdStrike told Bloomberg that the voucher codes were sent to team members and partners who had assisted the company's clients in restoring their systems. However, clients themselves did not receive these vouchers.

A faulty update of CrowdStrike's IT security software caused significant disruptions worldwide, affecting an estimated 8.5 million Windows computers. The impact was particularly felt in air travel, but some supermarkets, hospitals, and TV stations also reported issues.

CrowdStrike has since discovered that the testing mechanisms for the software update allowed a faulty file to pass through, which then caused Windows computers to crash. The company has announced plans to improve the testing systems and to roll out future updates gradually to ensure that potential issues do not immediately affect all customers.

On Thursday trading on the NASDAQ, CrowdStrike shares fell by 1.55 percent to 254.15 USD.
