The world's largest travel company TUI focuses on expansion in Latin America and launches the sale of trips, cruises, and excursions in the region. "TUI is a global company with a global presence, but today we mainly sell to European customers," TUI CEO Sebastian Ebel explained to the dpa in Hanover. However, Latin America offers a significant growth opportunity. Through digital platforms, TUI is able to meet the increasing demand in the region and expand quickly.

The expertise for the Latin American market, where Spanish and Portuguese are spoken, is provided by TUI through its branches in Spain and Portugal. The company is already working closely with travel agency partners in countries like Argentina, Mexico, Uruguay, and Colombia. In the future, customers will be able to book trips directly via a new digital platform.

Popular destinations for Latin American vacationers include package tours to Asia, North America, and Northern Europe, including TUI's own river cruises in Germany. According to Statista, revenue in the Latin American travel and tourism market is estimated to be around 34 billion euros this year, compared to Europe where revenue is expected to exceed 275 billion euros.

TUI continues to benefit from the growing travel enthusiasm of its customers. In the third quarter of the current fiscal year, the company was able to record an increase in guest numbers and strong results in the hotel and cruise business. A total of 5.8 million guests traveled with TUI by the end of June, corresponding to a four percent increase compared to the previous year. Revenue and profit exceeded analysts' expectations, leading the company to declare a 'record quarter.'

The positive market development is also reflected in the stock performance: The TUI share temporarily increased by 1.30 percent to 5.93 euros in XETRA trading.
