The United Overseas Bank (UOB), in collaboration with renowned educational institutions and industry partners, has launched a unique 12-month reskilling program. This tailored offering with individualized learning paths and mentoring is designed to facilitate employees' transition into new roles within the bank. Central to the initiative is the 'Better U Pivot' project, one of the main initiatives of UOB's annual employee festivity, "Better U." Additionally, the bank has established the Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Analytics Centre of Excellence (AIDA CoE) in collaboration with the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) and the National University of Singapore (NUS), as part of the comprehensive training and reskilling program for employees. The program, which was first piloted in 2021, aims to upskill up to 500 employees within two years, beginning in the fourth quarter of 2024. Supported by IBF and Workforce Singapore, in-depth competency analyses are conducted to provide tailored programs in areas such as risk and compliance, sales, and customer experience. Participants in a program developed by NP benefit from individualized learning paths, hands-on training, mentoring, and wellness support tailored to their specific roles. The Better U Festival, which has been held for six years and is attended by Tan See Leng, Minister for Employment, underscores UOB's commitment to the flexibility and future readiness of its employees in the face of the rapid changes in the financial sector. Dean Tong, head of Group Human Resources at UOB, states: "Since the launch of Better U five years ago, we have strengthened our commitment to developing our own talent and accelerated the implementation of holistic training programs to foster a growth mindset, digital awareness, and other important soft skills." The introduction of the AIDA CoE and the Better U Pivot program mark a significant advancement in our continuous learning and development journey to ensure that our team is well-equipped for the evolving demands of the industry.
