QIAGEN Expands Portfolio with New Tools for Microbial Analysis

QIAGEN sets another milestone in research and development with the introduction of two new tools for microbial analysis. These innovations enable researchers to customize their testing procedures while covering a broad range of applications. Compatible with both the QIAcuity digital polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and external next-generation sequencing platforms (NGS), the new tools open up versatile usage possibilities. By expanding the already extensive portfolio of over 700 digital PCR assays on the GeneGlobe platform, the use of digital PCR technology is significantly extended, with applications ranging from wastewater testing to human pathogen analysis. The first tool, a design tool for customized dPCR assays, allows users to develop specific primers and probes for bacterial, fungal, and viral targets. This solution employs advanced algorithms for microbiological applications, offering customized assays with high sensitivity and specificity. Additionally, the second tool, the QIAseq xHYB Custom Microbial Panels, offers the ability to design custom NGS panels that enable comprehensive genome coverage through simultaneous targeting of multiple genomes. Researchers are thus provided the highest possible resolution in microbiological applications. In a statement, Nitin Sood, Head of the Life Sciences Business at QIAGEN, emphasized the importance of specialized and reliable tools for microbiological research. Flexibility and precision are crucial to surpassing pathogens and accelerating discovery speeds. With the new tools, QIAGEN ensures that these specific needs of customers are met. Furthermore, in September, QIAGEN launched more than 100 validated QIAcuity digital PCR assays for various research applications, including cancer and infectious diseases, while also receiving CE marking for its QIAstat-Dx syndromic testing system.
