Nvidia presents groundbreaking "Project Digits" supercomputer

Nvidia unveiled something exciting at CES 2025 in Las Vegas: "Project Digits." This innovative device is presented as a "personal AI supercomputer" and is based on the company's advanced Grace Blackwell hardware platform—all in a compact format. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang stated at the press conference on Monday: "The entire Nvidia AI ecosystem runs on Project Digits—all our software is represented on it." This device is a desktop cloud computing platform that can also be used as a workstation upon request. Specifically designed for AI researchers, data scientists, and students, Project Digits includes Nvidia's new GB10 Grace Blackwell Superchip. This can deliver up to a petaflop of computing power for prototyping, fine-tuning, and running AI models. Nvidia claims that a single Project Digits module can process models with up to 200 billion parameters, where parameters roughly correspond to a model’s problem-solving capabilities. Developed in collaboration with MediaTek, the GB10 consists of an Nvidia Blackwell GPU and a 20-core Nvidia Grace CPU. Embedded in the casing of Project Digits are 128 GB of memory and up to 4 TB of flash storage. There is also the possibility to connect two Project Digits machines to handle models with up to 405 billion parameters. The machines are operated by Nvidia's Linux-based DGX OS and will be available from May for $3,000 through leading partners. While not an inexpensive investment, the company sees a potential market. Huang commented: "With Project Digits, the Grace Blackwell Superchip arrives at the desks of millions of developers, enabling every data scientist, AI researcher, and student to help shape the AI era.
