Green Party Leader Lang Demands Swift Clarification in Eavesdropping Case

The chairwoman of the Greens, Ricarda Lang, has called for an immediate and decisive investigation of the incidents following the exposure of a Russian eavesdropping operation against members of the Bundeswehr. The political leader underscored that the response must be quick and resolute in order to discuss possible consequences based on the findings. In Berlin, Lang clearly spoke out against potential strategic attempts at division by the Russian President Vladimir Putin and emphasized that the contents of the intercepted conversations would not provide any new insights. Additionally, Lang addressed the issue of arms deliveries to Ukraine. Germany must encourage other countries to increase arms shipments, yet also critically examine its own contributions and identify potential areas for action. The Green leader also commented on the possible convening of an investigative committee or a special session of the Defense Committee, which have been suggested by the opposition. The backdrop for this demand is the publication of an intercepted conversation by Russia last Friday involving high-ranking Air Force officers discussing the operational possibilities of the German cruise missile Taurus – in case it would be delivered to Ukraine.
