ADNOC Relies on Artificial Intelligence to Optimize Reservoir Management

The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) has implemented AIQ's innovative AR360 solution across more than 30 of its oil and gas reserves. This cutting-edge technology, developed in collaboration with SLB under the ADNOC ENERGYai initiative, leverages Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning to significantly enhance reservoir management and optimize field development planning, which is crucial for the oil and gas industry. The initial deployment of the AR360 solution took place in early 2024 at two ADNOC reservoirs in the Bab and Umm Shaif fields. Abdulmunim Saif Al Kindy, Executive Director at ADNOC Upstream, emphasizes the importance of this integration: "This confirms our success in extracting more value from our natural resources using AI. Based on decades of investment in innovation and technology, we will continue to advance the application of AI solutions to responsibly meet the growing global energy demand." Reports indicate that AR360 significantly reduces planning time and enhances the lifespan and production rate of wells by balancing new drilling, enhancing the performance of existing wells, and optimizing injection and production volumes. The technology represents a departure from traditional forecasting technologies, which often require multiple software platforms and datasets, making them time-consuming. Magzhan Kenesbai, Acting CEO of AIQ, is confident: "The extended implementation of AR360 at ADNOC is a significant testament to our technology and strengthens AIQ's position as an emerging global AI supplier for the energy sector." In addition to AR360, ADNOC employs more than 30 AI tools to improve efficiency and safety and reduce emissions. This includes the AI-based process optimization technology Neuron 5, introduced in August, which autonomously monitors critical facilities and is now set to be expanded to all ADNOC facilities.
