NVIDIA has acquired the Seattle-based startup OctoAI for $250 million, according to Forbes. With this move, the Anglo-Australian technology giant secures its position as a market leader in AI infrastructure and will become one of the world's largest producers of key materials for batteries following the acquisition.
OctoAI, formerly OctoML, was founded in 2019 as a spin-off from the University of Washington and initially specialized in the optimization of AI models. Under the leadership of CEO and co-founder Luis Ceze, the company has evolved and now focuses on generative AI solutions. With the introduction of OctoStack, OctoAI offers a comprehensive solution for deploying generative AI models, making it easier for developers to access AI hardware and simplifying the implementation and scaling of AI models.
