In a noteworthy development following the extensive SolarWinds attack, four prominent companies have agreed to pay a total of nearly $7 million to settle allegations by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The companies had downplayed the significance of the cyberattacks on their systems. The investigation focused on Unisys, Avaya Holdings, Check Point Software Technologies, and Mimecast. The SEC accuses these companies of misleading the public about the full extent of the cyberattacks that occurred in 2020 and 2021. Remarkably, in this settlement, the affected companies neither admitted nor denied their responsibility. Nevertheless, they agreed to pay the stipulated amounts to settle the regulatory agency's allegations.
