The Best Fundamental Data API in 2026: Financial Statements, Compared

Every provider demos well with price data — prices are a commodity. The separation happens with fundamentals: how many years of history, how many companies, how the standardization handles a German insurer versus a US SaaS company versus a Japanese conglomerate, and what happens to your backtest when a company restates. Here is how the 2026 field compares on the data that actually drives valuation work.

What Separates Good Fundamentals From Checkbox Fundamentals

  • History depth. Four years (the free-website standard) cannot show you a full cycle. Serious analysis needs 10–15+ years.
  • As-reported and standardized. You need both: standardized for comparison across companies, as-reported for fidelity to the actual filing.
  • Global standardization quality. Mapping IFRS, US-GAAP, and local standards into comparable line items is where most providers quietly fail outside the US.
  • Source lineage. When a number looks wrong, can you trace it to the filing? If not, you cannot trust anything else either.

1. Eulerpool API

The Eulerpool API delivers the strongest fundamentals package available outside six-figure enterprise contracts — and competes with those too:

  • Income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow for 50,000+ companies globally, annual and quarterly, with deep history.
  • Both as-reported and standardized views (Startup tier and above), with consistent treatment across IFRS and GAAP.
  • Every figure linked to its source — auditability is architectural, not aspirational.
  • The full valuation context in the same API: estimates with revisions, price targets, segments, ratios, quality scores, and fair value models.
  • Free tier with core financials; full statements from $99/month; as-reported + transcripts at $499/month.

2. S&P Capital IQ / Compustat

The academic gold standard for historical depth and point-in-time data. Enterprise pricing and enterprise procurement — inaccessible below institutional scale.

3. FactSet Fundamentals

Excellent standardization and estimates linkage. Sold as part of a terminal relationship; API-only access is not the model.

4. Financial Modeling Prep

Full statements at a low price. US data is serviceable; international standardization and edge-case handling are where verification becomes essential.

5. EODHD

Fundamentals as a paid add-on to a price API. Coverage is broad on paper; depth and consistency vary by market.

6. Alpha Vantage

Basic statements for US tickers. Fine for learning what an income statement JSON looks like; not built for analysis at depth.

The Test That Settles It

Pick ten companies you know deeply — including one European bank, one Japanese industrial, and one company that restated. Pull fifteen years of statements from each candidate API and compare against the filings. That test takes an afternoon and eliminates most of the field. Eulerpool's free tier lets you run it without a card.
