Federal Finance Minister Christian Lindner has called on Germans to adopt a new attitude towards work. On the ARD program "Caren Miosga," Lindner emphasized the importance of a changed work mentality for economic growth.

He argues in favor of instilling a joy for extra work in people and advocates for a "mentalities reform." Work should be seen not only as a financial necessity but also as purposeful and structuring.

Lindner also commented on possible tax relief for overtime and emphasized that it is often a question of the marginal tax rate whether additional working hours are worthwhile. The FDP leader suggested that politics could make adjustments here to make the decision for overtime more attractive.

Regarding the debate on relaxing the debt brake, Lindner now sees this issue as more of a theoretical question. He pointed out that to date, only 21 billion of the allotted 36 billion euros for the Climate and Transformation Fund have been spent.

As a reason for the incomplete utilization of funds, the Finance Minister cited a shortage of skilled workers. Lindner's statements highlight important issues in the current economic and fiscal policy debate in Germany and underline the need for structural adjustments to strengthen the economy.
